The 3rd annual Glenn Wilkes Classic will bring 10 major college teams and 15 basketball games to Daytona Beach's Ocean Center this month. Among the featured teams are Auburn, North Carolina State, Akron, and the University of Central Florida. The Classic format calls for on-campus games Nov. 12-17 and then five games daily on Nov. 20, 21 and 22 in Daytona Beach.
Completing the list of participating schools are Howard, Niagara, Georgia State, Drake, Austin Peay and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The five games begin daily at 11 a.m. followed by planned tip-offs at 1:15 p.m., 3:30, 6, and 8:15.
UCF will host an on-campus game vs. Howard Nov. 17. The Knights also play Auburn on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m., Niagara on Nov. 21 at 3:30 and Drake on Nov. 22 at 3:30. Featured games match Akron vs. N.C. State on Nov. 20 at 3:30 p.m. and N.C. State vs. Auburn on Nov. 22 at 8:15.The tournament is named for Glenn Wilkes, the retired Stetson coach who is considered the godfather of college basketball in Florida.
