from Daytona Beach - Race Times and New DIS Logo

NASCAR races will start earlier in 2010. NASCAR and its television broadcast partners decided this week to move up the start times for the races next year. The season-opening Daytona 500 will not end under the lights and in prime time for the first time in seven years, and other NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races will be considered more fan-friendly.

Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig said. "In recent years, race fans made their desire very clear for an earlier starting time." NASCAR will move its start times in Eastern and Central regions of the country to 1 p.m. ET, while the West Coast events will begin at 3 p.m. ET, and night races will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. The only exception is the Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR's longest night race, which will continue to start at 5:45 p.m. ET. A total of 28 Cup races in will be held at an earlier time with 20 races moved to 1 p.m. ET. Five races move earlier to a 3 p.m. and three races start earlier at 7:30 p.m. ET.

"Earlier and more consistent start times is another important issue to the core NASCAR fans and we were determined to make the change this year beginning with the Daytona 500," said NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France.

Also this week, the International Speedway Corp. announced a new logo. The new modernized logo, redesigned for the first time since 1997, retains the key element of its previous logo - the emphasis on the entertainment aspects of the motorsports business, through the continued diversification and enhancement of the total fan experience, both on and off the track.

"As the leading promoter of major motorsports entertainment, we felt it was time to refresh and modernize our corporate logo while maintaining certain attributes of the previous version to reflect our proud heritage," stated ISC Chief Executive Officer Lesa France Kennedy. "The new logo reflects the Company's continuing growth and innovation in motorsports entertainment."
