Daytona Beach Biketoberfest this Weekend

Thousands of bikers rolled into Central Florida on Thursday as Biketoberfest officially began. Nearly 100,000 bikers are expected, with an expected boost of $200 million to the Daytona Beach area's economy. Tourism officials are optimistic as are street vendors and hotels.

Biketoberfest runs through Sunday, Oct, 18. Vendors hope lower fuel prices and good weather will lead to more spending. Bikers pumped $214 million into the Central Florida economy in 2008.

Here's the official web site for Biketoberfest, with good suggestions for the weekend:

"Day 3 - This is the best day yet as the weather cools just a bit and the sunshine is plentiful! Always the most fun from sun up to moon rise Saturday is the biggest day of Biketoberfest® with great bike shows from Big Daddy Rat to the Boardwalk Bike Show. Monster Dash takes place at the Daytona International Speedway and country superstar Charlie Daniels hits the stage at the Edgewater Ranch. So much fun - so much to do - so little time ! Be sure to get here if you can - ride out for this fun day of activities and events.

"Day 4 - Ah, sad but true the last day is near. While there's still lot's of great entertainment all over town you can also find the best deals on all kinds of Biketoberfest® merchandise too! Bikers love to shop the day away - picking up all the best bargins to take back home and share each Sunday of the event. It's also the best day for photo's to capture that last memory of a great event vacation get-away. It's also a time when all of us here get a little sad to see everyone head on back home."

Enjoy and make your plans for Bike Week 2010, Feb. 26-March 7, 2010.

Take a few minutes to look at the paper while you are here and note the great real estate buys now in Daytona Beach. Let me know if you see something you want to preview!
